It appears that 25 people died when a tourist ferry in Colombia sank in a reservoir. “Those who were on the first and second floor drowned immediately,” said a survivor.
The Reuters news agency released on Monday video footage documenting the dramatic moments when a tourist ferry carrying about 150 people in a Colombian reservoir began to sink. Most of the passengers were rescued but it appears that 25 of them died.
Many boats rushed to sinking ferry in order to rescue the passengers. In the footage of the incident, the frightened passengers are seen on the upper level of the multi-floor ferry as they fight to remain above water.
According to reports, most of the passengers did not have access to life vests even though the boat was involved in three previous accidents. “Those who were on the first and second floor drowned immediately,” said a survivor.
