Four men have been arrested for attempting to smuggle in a large cache of weapons from Jordan. The attempt was thwarted by a joint covert operation between the Israeli Police Force and the IDF.

The police arrested two suspects in their early 30’s after picking up a bag at the Jordan-Israel border that contained 31 pistols and a machine gun. Two other men in their mid-twenties who were manning the getaway cars were also detained.

The police spokesman released a statement after the successful operation ”at the end of a covert operation the detectives of the Israel Police Central Unit, together with IDF fighters prevented the smuggling of weapons from Jordan to Israel.”

“The Israeli Police will continue to work to locate weapons and expose criminals who endanger public safety until they are brought to justice,” the statement said.
