An aerial incident between a NATO fighter jet and a Russian Air Force jet was caught on camera above the Baltic Sea. NATO’s F-16 approached Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu’s plane until it was intercepted by a Russian fighter jet.
This morning (Wednesday), a NATO F-16 fighter jet bothered and got too close to Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu’s plane. The F-16 was driven away by Russian Sukhoi fighter jets that escorted the minister.
According to reports, the F-16 attempted to approach the airplane above the Baltic Sea in a neutral zone while it was on its way to the Russian city of Kaliningrad. The Russian jet maneuvered the jet in order to show its weapons to the F-16, which quickly left the area.

“The situation near Russia’s western borders is getting worse,” Shoygu stated after the incident. “This is tied with the upsurge of military activity of the NATO countries in Europe.”
According to the Pentagon, spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said the US aircraft “did nothing to provoke this behavior” and that the Russian jet was flying dangerously.
The Baltics has become an increasingly tense zone between Moscow and NATO. Earlier this month, Russian planes confronted and intercepted a US B-52 strategic bomber capable of carrying nuclear weapons in the region. Last month, the US Air Force intercepted 4 Russian aircraft- Tupolev 95 bombers and Su-35 fighter jets.
