The holiday of Purim is celebrated by Jews all around the world in commemoration of the deliverance of the Jewish people from the ancient Persian Empire that sought to destroy the nation. The holiday is celebrated with tons of color and fun, with people of all ages dressing up in their favorite and funniest costumes to mark the ancient triumph. Cities all over Israel today (Sunday) and Jerusalem tomorrow (Monday) will put on their annual Purim parades, featuring parade floats, dancers and wonderful performances for all ages.
This is the 22nd year that Holon is holding its annual Purim parade, and the organizers decided to give the festivities a Latin theme this year. Other cities like Ra’anana will celebrate with a parade honoring Israeli achievements and in Hadera they will celebrate with a ‘Sea World’ theme. Residents of Herzliya will have the opportunity to take part in the city’s first ever Purim parade. Tomorrow residents of Jerusalem will celebrate Shushan Purim, which is believed to mark the true date of Purim according to the Jewish lunar calendar on the 15th of the month of Adar.
