21 years after former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was murdered, young supporters of his political party launched a new campaign video based on a key phrase associated with him.
Young Israeli Labor Party supporters launched today (Sunday) a new campaign video with a message based on a key phrase associated with former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin: “Israel is waiting for Rabin.” On this year’s anniversary of Rabin’s murder, the young Labor Party supporters were determined to convey the message that they are not interested in only clinging onto the past but also in making a difference in the future. Therefore, they gathered in order to produce a video with one message: “Israel is waiting for us.”
In the video, which was produced by Adam Deutch and choreographed by Tal Hendelsman, footage from different events in Israel years ago is seen but then a gunshot is heard and the screen goes black. This is when the young Israeli Labor Party supporters then appear dancing to a remix of the traditional election jingle. At the end of the clip, the phrase “Israel is waiting for us” is featured on the screen.
Labor youth movement spokesperson Elad Spindel said that the purpose of the video is “to show that there is a need to emphasize the ideology and fact that there is an alternative ruling party.” In addition, Labor youth movement chairwoman Yael Sinai said that the campaign expresses the party’s goal to continue in Rabin’s footsteps.
As reported yesterday by JOL, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the remarks made by coalition chairman David Bitan regarding Rabin’s murder. Last week, Bitan caused a political storm when he said that Rabin’s murder was not political. However, Netanyahu stated yesterday evening that the act was most certainly political.
