Israeli security forces arrested one of the high-ranking terrorists in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization in the West Bank Sunday night. The arrest came amid the rising tensions following the terror group’s threats of retribution.
The arrest was part of the IDF and Shin Bet’s mobilization to thwart terror plans by the PIJ after the IDF’s strike of the terror tunnel in October. Israeli security forces have detected PIJ terrorist activity in the Gaza Strip and fear there may be further plans to carry out an attack in the West Bank.
Meanwhile, the IDF is on high alert along the Israel-Gaza border. It reinforced its units in light of the existing threats to enable the area’s residents to continue their daily routine unaffected.

As reported previously by JOL, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to PIJ’s latest threats on Monday. “There are those who still amuse themselves these days by trying to renew attacks against Israel,” said Netanyahu. “We will take a very firm stance against anyone who tries to attack us or attacks us from any area.”
