There is perhaps nothing symbolic to the Jewish State and world Jewry than the Israeli Flag. When the blue and white banner crested with the Star of David blows proudly in the wind, our hearts become unified as a people and country.
The flag that we all know and love was adopted by the government, five months after the country’s establishment on October 28th, 1948.
Did you know that their was an open contest for Israeli citizens to submit proposals for the flag and emblem? A whopping 164 people participated in the competition, submitting a total of 450 designs!
Check out some of the submitted designs.
