The Trump administration will impose new sanctions on Iran as early as next week, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told reporters on Wednesday.

“We are 100 percent committed to making sure that Iran does not have nuclear weapons,” Sanders said. “We’re going to continue to put maximum pressure, enormous sanctions on them. All of the sanctions that were in place before the deal are back in place and we are preparing to add additional sanctions that may come as early as next week.”

Earlier, US President Donald Trump warned that “something will happen” if Iran does not enter new nuclear talks with the US.

On Tuesday, Trump announced his country’s withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed in 2015 between Iran and six world powers.
