Ambassador Danny Danon added: “It is time for the world to distinguish between those who stabilize the region from those who sow terror.”
As we speak, the Assad regime, a brutal dictatorship backed by Iran which has committed a democide against its own people, displacing millions and murdering hundreds of thousands, controls Syria. However, this fact has not stopped the UN General Assembly from constantly condemning Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, for its control over the Golan Heights. But for the first time ever this year, US President Donald Trump’s government voted against the annual non-binding UN resolution condemning Israel’s control over the Golan Heights, thus setting a new precedent.
The Israeli government thanked the US for the vote with Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan tweeting: “The Golan is part of Israel and it will always be. There is no sane person who thinks that the Golan will return to the murderer Assad and the Iranian regime, which is trying to establish a ‘Syrian Hezbollah’ in the region.” Ambassador Danny Danon added: “It is time for the world to distinguish between those who stabilize the region from those who sow terror.” The question remains, will other countries in Europe soon follow suit?
