From the initial investigation, the Israel Police confirmed that the man was armed with a knife. While the motivations for the attack have not yet been determined, the police suspect that the stabbing was an act of terror.
Both the assailant and the victim were evacuated to the Emek hospital in Afula. The woman was treated by Magen David Adom medics who arrived at the scene for serious to severe injuries. According to reports, her condition worsened by the time she arrived at the hospital.
One medic at the scene told Israel’s Hadashot news that “when we arrived at the scene, there was chaos. A girl of about 18 was sitting in a chair at the entrance to a shop, conscious and suffering from multiple stab wounds in her upper body. We administered life-saving first aid care and stopped the bleeding.”
