Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon responded to the Channel 2 News poll that predicted that his party would receive four mandates and join a left-wing bloc against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if a general election was held today. Ya’alon’s spokesperson shot down this scenario, calling it ridiculous.

Channel 2 News recently released the results of a poll that indicated that if a general Israeli election was held today, left-wing parties could block Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from leading the country. According to the poll, if former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon’s new political party joins a coalition of left-wing and centrist parties, Netanyahu would most likely find himself in the opposition.

However, Ya’alon clarified this morning: “I will not be the one who prevents a right-wing government from being established.” Ya’alon’s spokesperson stated: “The attempt to connect him to a left-wing bloc with the Joint Arab List is ridiculous. Bogie (Ya’alon) is the national, sane, responsible and honorable right-wing.”
