Today (Sunday), an indictment was filed against an 18-year-old Israeli citizen for aggravated assault motivated by racism. According to the indictment, earlier this month, a young Arab male was walking along with a woman who works with him in the Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem.
The suspect, along with several of his friends, walked by the two and asked the woman if she is Jewish. They then asked the complainant why he was dating Jewish women. After attempting to explain that they only work together, the suspect and his friends pulled out a knife and began assaulting the Arab man.
The suspect told the victim that he cannot work in the market anymore, all the while kicking and punching him before a passerby stopped the assault. The State Attorney’s Office stated that they had requested to extend the defendant’s arrest until the end of the proceedings against him.
